Evidence checklist
Strong appeals include evidence. Attach what you can. Even simple photos taken on your phone can help.
- Photos of the location taken on the day, showing signs, lines, meter, or permit.
- Parking receipt or permit if you bought one or displayed it correctly.
- Map or satellite view showing unclear or hidden signage.
- Repair record if the meter or machine was broken and you reported it.
- Witness details if someone saw what happened and is willing to confirm it.
- Emergency proof such as a hospital letter, breakdown record, or repair invoice.
Submission guide
- Check the deadline. Most tickets give you 14 to 28 days. If you miss it, you may lose the discount or the right to appeal.
- Choose how to send it. Some councils want an online form. Others accept email or post. Use the address or link on your ticket.
- Attach evidence. Keep file sizes small. Name each file clearly, for example "photo-signs.jpg".
- Keep copies. Save your letter, evidence, and a note of when and how you sent the appeal.
- Wait for a reply. Most councils reply within 2 to 6 weeks. Do not pay the fine while you wait unless told to.
Common questions
- Can I appeal if I was only five minutes late?
- Private parking companies sometimes accept short overstay appeals. Councils rarely do unless the ticket has an error. Check the ticket details carefully.
- Should I sound angry in the letter?
- No. Keep the tone polite and factual. Angry letters are less likely to succeed and can distract from your main point.
- What if I lost my parking receipt?
- You can still appeal. Explain that you paid and include other evidence, such as a bank transaction or a photo of the meter showing time remaining.
- Does this builder store my data?
- No. Everything runs in your browser. If you click "Save draft", it is saved on your device only. We never see your ticket details.
